Conducted a career support workshop at Tokyo Metropolitan Rokugo Technical High School

On June 9, 2021, glolab, a non-profit organization, held a career support workshop entitled “First Step – Career and Status of Residence: Employment” at Tokyo Metropolitan Rokugo Technical High School (Ota-ku, Tokyo), where high school students with immigrant background are enrolled. The purpose of this workshop was to deepen the students’ understanding of their status of residence, which will affect their future plans after graduation, and to remind them of the importance of attending and graduating from high school.

Aims : To deepen the understanding of the status of residence, which will affect the students’ career path after graduation
   To reaffirm the importance of attending and graduating from high school


The day of the event


On the day of the seminar, after watching a video produced by glolab entitled “The Basics of Visa Status” (with English subtitles) with the students, we used worksheets to introduce the different types of visa statuses and points to be aware of when seeking employment after graduation.
In the latter half of the session, coordinator Li Shu introduced her own experience and stressed the importance of thinking about what students want to do after graduation and preparing for it.
At the end of the workshop, the students asked us to come back again, and we felt that we were getting closer to each other little by little.

glolab will continue to provide opportunities for high school students with immigrant background to broaden their perspectives and deepen their thinking about themselves and their careers.
